Woman Charged with Domestic Violence Murder After Child's Death on NSW Central Coast

A 32-year-old woman has been charged with domestic violence murder following the death of a four-year-old boy. Police confirmed that cannibalism will form part of the investigation.

The woman walked into Wyong Police Station on Saturday at approximately 4:40 pm, prompting a welfare check on the child. Officers subsequently searched a unit on Byron Street, Wyong, where they found the boy's body.

The woman has been charged and refused bail. Police stated the woman and child lived together in the unit and were known to each other. While authorities confirmed the child had injuries, they declined to specify further at this stage.

Background

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) has confirmed prior contact with the family, but declined further comment due to the ongoing police investigation.

Shadow Minister Natasha Maclaren-Jones said the incident raises questions about DCJ staffing levels. Government frontbencher Penny Sharpe stated that the DCJ is working through its processes.
