ChatGPT Health: OpenAI Launches Feature for Personal Health Data Integration
OpenAI has introduced a new feature called ChatGPT Health, which allows users in the United States aged 18 and older to connect personal health data to the chatbot for contextual analysis and discussion. The feature is an updated version of a pilot program tested in January 2025.
How the Feature Works
ChatGPT Health enables users to securely link their Apple Health data (via HealthKit) and supported medical records from providers such as Kaiser Permanente and One Medical.
With user permission, the chatbot can access this connected health information to:
- Compare test results
- Summarize changes since previous appointments
- Analyze relationships between sleep, activity, workouts, and routines
Users maintain full control over when ChatGPT uses their connected health data and can disconnect data at any time.
Accessing the feature: Users can find a dedicated Health tab in the ChatGPT sidebar on web and iOS. The tab allows users to browse records, view trends, and see suggested prompts.
The updated version benefits from improvements in OpenAI's frontier models, including the GPT-5.6 Sol model, which enhances the chatbot's ability to answer health-related questions.
Privacy and Data Use
OpenAI states that health information is not used to train foundation models or target advertisements, regardless of other account settings.
Users maintain control over when ChatGPT uses connected health data and can disconnect data at any time.
Availability and Limitations
ChatGPT Health is rolling out to logged-in ChatGPT users in the US across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. The feature is not yet available in Codex.
