From Pizza Hut Fame to Elevator Shafts: The Life of Dougie the Pizza Boy
Diarmid Heidenreich, best known as the lovable Dougie the Pizza Boy in Pizza Hut commercials from 1993 to 1996, is proof that life after a viral ad career can take a very grounded turn. Today, he works full-time as a mechanical fitter, installing elevators.

Despite his blue-collar career, Heidenreich has not abandoned acting entirely. He continues to take occasional roles, appearing in Australian television staples such as "Water Rats," "Underbelly: The Golden Mile," and "Home and Away." He has also periodically reprised his iconic Dougie character for nostalgia-based marketing campaigns.
Heidenreich currently lives in Sydney's eastern suburbs with his wife and two children.
A Past He Doesn’t Hide
The actor’s history also includes a serious legal incident. In 1996, he served 77 weekends of periodic detention following a drug- and alcohol-related car crash that injured his girlfriend.
Heidenreich has openly described the incident as a mistake he deeply regrets, and he now uses the experience as a teaching tool for his own children.
