Police Officer Shot During Disturbance in Yengarie

A police officer has been shot in the leg during a disturbance at a property on the Fraser Coast, prompting an emergency declaration and power shut-off in the area.

At approximately 3:00 PM, police responded to a disturbance at a property on Horizon Court in Yengarie, west of Maryborough.

During engagement with a man at the property, a police officer sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The officer, a 36-year-old constable, is in stable condition and has been transported to hospital. The Queensland Police Union confirmed that his immediate family has been notified and he is receiving medical care.

Emergency Declaration & Exclusion Zone

An emergency declaration has been made under the Public Safety Preservation Act.

The exclusion zone covers Lake Drive, Meadow Drive, and Mary View Drive along the Mary River in Yengarie. Residents are urged to stay indoors, and the public is asked to avoid the area.
