A South Korean court has ordered SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won to pay his ex-wife Roh Soh-yeong 944 billion won ($644 million) in a divorce settlement.
The award is lower than the initial 1.38 trillion won ordered in 2024, which was overturned by the Supreme Court. The court determined that slush funds from Roh's father, former President Roh Tae-woo, were illegally obtained and not part of the couple's assets. Chey's lawyers expressed regret over the proceedings and stated they would review the ruling before responding.
The case stems from Chey's extramarital affair, which led to the breakdown of the 35-year marriage. SK Group is South Korea's second-largest chaebol, with subsidiaries including SK Hynix, a major semiconductor supplier to Nvidia.
