A wave of violent crime has swept across western Sydney over several days, including two fatal shootings, a firearm threat, and a fatal stabbing. Police have established multiple crime scenes and launched investigations into each event.
"Our preliminary assessment indicates the incident was a targeted attack rather than a random occurrence." – Detective Acting Superintendent Tim Calman

A 44-year-old man was found dead inside his unit on Newman Street at approximately 6:30 AM on Saturday. A female resident discovered the body.

A second man at the location sustained non-life-threatening injuries from an assault and was also taken to hospital.
Police have charged two men, aged 21 and 22, with murder in connection to the Shale Street shooting, which has been linked to organized crime.
Firearm Threat in Lidcombe Carpark (Tuesday)
At approximately 7:20 AM on Tuesday, a woman was threatened with a firearm in a multi-level carpark on Uhrig Road, Lidcombe.
The victim was driving when a white Subaru SUV approached. A male passenger in the SUV presented a gun before the vehicle departed. Police stated that a disagreement in the carpark preceded the incident and that the victim and the alleged gunman were not known to each other.
The woman sustained no physical injuries. The incident prompted a lockdown of the area, including a nearby childcare center. Specialist police units—including the Dog Squad, tactical officers, and PolAir—were deployed. An extensive search was conducted, but the individual was not located. Police confirmed no shots were fired.
Police believe two individuals were in the Subaru: a male passenger reportedly holding the firearm and a potential female driver. The alleged gunman was described as having a medium build, wearing a grey hoodie and a balaclava. The vehicle was described as a Subaru SUV with standard roof racks, fitted with cloned number plates.
"We observed via CCTV the vehicle leaving the premises a few minutes before our arrival."
Authorities have requested anyone who observed the vehicle in the vicinity before or after 7:20 AM to contact police. This incident occurred one street away from the location of Monday's fatal shooting on Shale Street.
