UFC Fight Night: Pyfer vs. Adesanya | March 28, 2026

The UFC Fight Night card took place on March 28, 2026, at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. The preliminary card kicked off at 5 p.m. ET on Paramount+, leading directly into the main card, which also streamed on Paramount+ starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Main Event: Pyfer vs. Adesanya

In the five-round middleweight main event, Joe Pyfer (16-3 MMA) secured a technical knockout (TKO) victory over former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya (24-6 MMA). The decisive stoppage occurred at 4:18 of the second round. Both fighters successfully weighed in at 186 pounds for the contest.

Pyfer's victory further extended his impressive winning streak, adding to prior triumphs over Marc-Andre Barriault, Kelvin Gastelum, and Abus Magomedov. He has notably achieved finishes in six of his seven professional victories.

Israel Adesanya, representing New Zealand, had been on a challenging run, holding a record of 1-4 in his previous five UFC appearances since late 2022. He had not secured a victory since April 2023, when he momentarily regained middleweight gold at UFC 287.

Despite the recent loss, Adesanya stated he has no plans for retirement, indicating his intention to continue competing. Adesanya, who joined the UFC roster in February 2018, holds the division record for 13 knockdowns, a distinction he shares with UFC legend Anderson Silva.

Co-Main Event: Grasso vs. Barber

The women's flyweight co-main event featured Alexa Grasso (17-5-1 MMA) against Maycee Barber (15-3 MMA). Grasso secured a victory at 2:42 of the first round. Grasso weighed in at 126 pounds, while Barber was 125 pounds.

Accounts from the event describe Grasso landing a potent left hand that sent Barber to the canvas, followed by additional strikes and the swift application of a rear-naked choke. This sequence ultimately led to referee Mike Beltran stopping the contest.

Official reports categorized the finish with some ambiguity, listing it as a TKO, KO, or submission, reflecting uncertainty about whether the strike or the choke was the precise timing for the stoppage. This marked Grasso's first win after a two-fight losing streak, which included a draw and a subsequent loss to Valentina Shevchenko. It was also her first victory since making history in 2023 as the first Mexican-born female UFC champion by defeating Shevchenko. Grasso had previously defeated Barber by decision in February 2021.

Following the stoppage, Barber appeared disoriented and remained motionless for several minutes before receiving medical attention. She was later transported to a local hospital. On Sunday, Barber issued a statement via Instagram, confirming her well-being and acknowledging the outcome, stating she "got caught." She also mentioned having limited memory of the event. The loss concluded Barber's impressive seven-fight winning streak, which had commenced after her initial encounter with Grasso in 2021.

UFC CEO Dana White described Grasso's finish as "one of the greatest in sports history" during the post-fight press conference.
