A norovirus outbreak has affected 103 students at Xinghui Middle School in Foshan, Guangdong Province, south China. Local health authorities reported the infections on Saturday, January 17.
Norovirus, a common cause of acute gastroenteritis, typically presents with symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. All 103 students are reported to be in stable condition.
In response to the outbreak, the school campus has undergone disinfection. Students are currently under health monitoring and attendance checks, and an epidemiological survey is being conducted.
Guangdong provincial disease control authorities indicate that the province experiences its annual norovirus epidemic season between October and March.
