The Ellenbrook Medicare Urgent Care Clinic has opened at 7/150 Coolamon Blvd, Ellenbrook. This new clinic provides extended hours of operation, seven days a week, and does not require appointments. All services are bulk billed.
Services Provided
The clinic is staffed by doctors and nurses who treat urgent but not life-threatening conditions and injuries. These include:
- Cuts
- Viral infections
- Sprained ankles
Impact on Emergency Departments
According to new data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) across Western Australia are reducing pressure on the state's hospitals. Non-urgent presentations to Western Australian emergency departments have decreased by 6.8 percent, while semi-urgent presentations have dropped by 2.7 percent.
Broader Network and Statistics
The Ellenbrook clinic is now part of an existing network of eight UCCs in Western Australia, with five more planned for the state. This expansion aligns with the Albanese Government's commitment to ensure that four out of five Australians live within a 20-minute drive of a local UCC.
Since the first sites opened in June 2023, Medicare Urgent Care Clinics nationwide have recorded over 2.4 million presentations, including more than 260,500 presentations to Western Australian Medicare Urgent Care Clinics. Key usage patterns show:
- Over one in four patients were under 15 years old.
- More than one in four visits occurred on weekends.
- Over one in five visits were after-hours on weekdays (5 pm or later).
The WA Primary Health Alliance is responsible for commissioning the Ellenbrook Medicare Urgent Care Clinic.
