The Trump administration is proposing a new international organization called the 'Board of Peace.' Countries seeking a permanent membership on this board would be required to contribute at least US$1 billion.
A draft charter for the proposed group indicates that former US President Donald Trump would serve as its inaugural chairman and would be responsible for inviting members. Decisions within the board would be made by a majority vote, with each member state receiving one vote. However, all decisions would require the chairman's approval.
The charter outlines membership terms, stating that each member state would serve for no more than three years, subject to renewal by the chairman. This three-year term would not apply to member states that contribute more than US$1,000,000,000 in cash funds to the Board of Peace within its first year.
The board's stated mission, according to the charter, is 'an international organisation that seeks to promote stability, restore dependable and lawful governance, and secure enduring peace in areas affected or threatened by conflict.'
Critics have expressed concerns that this initiative could be an attempt by Trump to establish an alternative or rival international body to the United Nations, an organization he has frequently criticized.
