Design registrations have revealed the final appearances of Ducati's 2026 DesertX V2 and Desmo450 EDS enduro machines. Both models were previously previewed as prototypes.

Desmo450 EDS Details

The 450Desmo EDS designs are nearly identical to the previewed version, sharing chassis and body parts with the competition Desmo450 EDX enduro. Key differences for the street-legal EDS include:

  • A headlight, mirrors, and front/rear turn signals.
  • A license plate bracket at the rear.
  • A different exhaust system with a longer header pipe and a catalytic converter mounted near the cylinder head. An O2 sensor is present on the header pipe.
  • A heel guard behind the right footpeg, protecting the rear brake cylinder.
  • New guards over the front sprocket and chain on the left side.
  • A small instrument pack and an ignition key switch located behind the front cowl.

DesertX V2 Details

The DesertX V2's final design is largely similar to the existing DesertX, featuring a retro, Dakar-inspired shape. It incorporates a new monocoque-style alloy chassis and an 890cc, liquid-cooled V-twin engine. This engine is also used in other Ducati V2 models like the Panigale, Streetfighter, Multistrada, Monster, and Hypermotard, aiming to streamline production.

The new engine is more compact and lighter than the previous 937cc Testastretta. It uses conventional valve springs instead of Ducati's Desmodromic valve operation and includes variable intake valve timing for broader performance.

Compared to the previewed DesertX V2, the design registrations show:

  • Addition of mirrors.
  • A street-legal exhaust system, replacing the Termignoni pipe seen on the prototype.
  • A two-part seat instead of the one-piece design.
  • A license plate bracket.

The disguised prototype shown at EICMA was confirmed to be very close to the production specification.
