Thirteen schoolchildren died in South Africa following a collision between a minibus and a lorry.
The incident occurred on Monday morning around 07:00 local time (05:00 GMT) in Vanderbijlpark, located south of Johannesburg. The local education authority confirmed the details.
Eleven students were declared deceased at the scene, with two more succumbing to their injuries subsequently. Two additional pupils are in critical condition.
According to police spokesperson Mavela Masondo, the minibus driver initiated the collision with the lorry while attempting to overtake two other vehicles.
