Chun Lai Yuen has been sentenced to one year and four months in prison for dangerous driving, which resulted in grievous bodily harm to a teenage girl. The incident took place in July 2025 on Camfield Drive near the Burswood Casino precinct.
Yuen, 25, was operating his Honda Civic at approximately 100 kilometers per hour, exceeding the 40 km/h speed limit, as a car cruise event concluded. The vehicle's speed was recorded at 85 kilometers per hour just prior to impact.
Seventeen-year-old Caitlyn Dickson was struck by the vehicle, sustaining multiple injuries including a torn aorta, fractured elbow, and fractured pelvis. Her family indicated the incident had a significant impact on them.
Magistrate Robert Young presided over the case. Yuen pleaded guilty to the charge and expressed remorse, citing overwhelming guilt and receiving medication for PTSD. He was not affiliated with the car club.
Yuen, who has resided in Australia since 2022 and had no prior criminal record, will be eligible for parole after serving eight months of his sentence. His driver's license has been disqualified for three years.
