Ticket Information
Pricing and Sales
General ticket sales began between January 28 and February 4, depending on the market. Presale access was available through an American Express partnership, the Harry Styles Artist Presale, or pre-ordering the new album in select regions. VIP packages were also offered.
Fans reported ticket prices on Ticketmaster ranging from $50 to $1,182.40, including service fees. Reports from multiple sources indicated some non-floor seats were priced at approximately $1,000, and tickets on resale platforms like StubHub were listed for approximately $3,500.
Pricing Practices
Ticketmaster stated to Yahoo that the company "does not determine pricing" and does not utilize "surge pricing or dynamic algorithms to adjust ticket prices." Ticketmaster reported communicating pricing information, including the range for remaining tickets, to fans during the sale.
A user on social media claimed that Ticketmaster executives confirmed pricing for the tour was predetermined by Harry Styles and his team. Ticketmaster has not publicly confirmed or denied this specific claim.
Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino previously suggested that concert tickets are often "underpriced," drawing comparisons to sports event ticket costs.
Fan Reactions
Fans expressed criticism regarding ticket prices and the purchasing process, with reports of extended waits in digital queues and error codes. Some fans indicated that prices were higher compared to Styles' previous tours. The increase in cost was attributed by some fans to "Platinum" or "Dynamic Pricing," a strategy used by ticketing platforms to adjust prices based on demand.
Industry Context
Rising ticket prices and difficulties in the purchasing process have been reported across the entertainment industry. Fans of various artists, including Olivia Rodrigo, Zach Bryan, Sabrina Carpenter, Sleep Token, Ghost, and Green Day, have voiced similar frustrations with Ticketmaster.
Live Nation reported revenue increasing by 11% year-over-year to $8.5 billion and adjusted operating income rising by 14% to $1.03 billion in its most recent third-quarter report.
Opening Night
The tour began on May 16 at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. Reports indicate 56,000 fans attended the opening night. The Johan Cruyff Arena installed a permanent pillar mural commemorating the tour. The show featured a 21-song setlist including new songs and reworked versions of older tracks.
