Otway Ranges Bushfire Flares, Immediate Shelter Advised

A bushfire that began on January 7 in the Otway Ranges has flared due to extreme heat.

Residents in specific areas are advised that it is too late to leave and to find immediate shelter.

Emergency Alert Issued for Six Towns

Forest Fire Management Victoria has issued an alert for people in six forest towns south-west of Colac. These towns include:

• Beech Forest
• Carlisle River
• Charleys Creek
• Ferguson
• Gellibrand
• Wyelangta

Residents in these areas are instructed to seek shelter indoors.

Carlisle River Fire Details

The northernmost of two bushfires in Otways National Park, located at Carlisle River, is currently moving in a southerly direction. Its movement is from the intersection of Carlisle River Road and Walls-Skinner Track.

Homes and lives are under threat, and roads within the emergency area are closed.
