Michigan AG Files Antitrust Suit Against Major Oil Companies
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed an antitrust lawsuit on Friday against four major oil companies and the American Petroleum Institute.
The suit alleges that BP, Chevron, Exxon, and Shell, along with the American Petroleum Institute, have engaged in a decades-long conspiracy. This alleged collusion aimed to impede competition from renewable energy sources, including electric vehicles.
According to the lawsuit, the companies acted as a "cartel" by agreeing to decrease the production and distribution of electricity from renewable sources. They are also accused of restraining the growth of electric vehicles and renewable primary energy technologies within the United States.
