Next-Generation Toyota Corolla Previewed at Tokyo Mobility Show
Toyota offered an early look at the upcoming next-generation Corolla at the 2025 Tokyo Mobility Show. The production model is expected to feature a design significantly influenced by this concept vehicle.
Design Influences and Digital Renders
Digital renders by KDesign AG provide an illustration of the forthcoming Corolla, adopting Toyota's distinctive 'hammerhead' design.
This design is characterized by distinct C-shaped headlights, a wide front grille, and a pinched front end.
The final design is projected to draw cues from both the Camry and C-HR models, as suggested by these digital renders. The renders depict the Corolla in a sedan form, albeit with a rear end that integrates a sloping roofline into the boot, resembling a liftback. Images of a new Corolla-sized sedan have also emerged from China; however, this version may differ as it is produced by a joint venture.
Expected Powertrain Options
While specific details remain limited, the new Corolla is anticipated to offer a diverse range of powertrain options. These are expected to include petrol hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric, and potentially hydrogen power in the future.
Toyota is actively developing new turbocharged petrol engines for these versions. These high-output units are specifically designed to be compatible with carbon-neutral fuels. Among these is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit, with a 2.0-litre motor rumored to produce up to 300kW when combined with hybrid technology.
Further Information
More details regarding the next-generation Corolla are expected to be released throughout 2026.
