PARK CITY, UTAH – U.S. Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL) reported being assaulted during a private event held in conjunction with the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The incident occurred late Friday, January 26, at the High West Saloon. Christian Joel Young, 28, was arrested in connection with the incident and faces multiple charges, including aggravated burglary and assault.

Incident Details

The alleged assault unfolded around midnight at the High West Saloon, where CAA was hosting its annual Sundance party. According to official reports and statements from Representative Frost, an individual, later identified as Christian Young, allegedly gained unauthorized entry to the private event. Sources indicate Young was not on the RSVP list, was denied entry, and reportedly entered by jumping a fence.

While inside, Young allegedly caused a disturbance, making racially charged statements.

Representative Frost stated on X that the individual made remarks including "Trump was going to deport me" before physically striking him.

Young was also reportedly heard screaming racist remarks and making comments about being "white." In addition to the alleged assault on Representative Frost, Young is also accused of grabbing a female attendee.

Security personnel at the venue intervened quickly to detain Young until officers from the Park City Police Department arrived. Representative Frost later confirmed he was "okay" and not seriously injured.

Arrest and Charges

Christian Joel Young, 28, was taken into custody by the Park City Police Department following the incident. Court records indicate Young faces significant charges, including aggravated burglary, assaulting an elected official, and two counts of simple assault. Authorities have noted the potential for sentencing enhancements in the case.

Young was transported to Summit County Jail, and County Judge Richard Mrazik ordered him to be held without bail, citing concerns that he could pose a danger or attempt to flee. Young reportedly has a previous misdemeanor conviction. An affidavit also detailed that Young was found with a Sundance Film Festival pass not registered in his name.
