Mansfield State High Tops Queensland's Most Sought-After School Zone
The Mansfield State High School catchment area has been identified as the most sought-after school zone in Queensland, according to data from online real estate marketplace Domain. The school's popularity is reflected in strong attendance at school-related events and increased buyer interest in properties within its zone.
Growing Interest and School Performance
Ray White Mount Gravatt principal Grant Boman noted that auctions sponsored by Mansfield State High School typically draw 600 to 700 attendees, a figure that continues to grow annually. He attributed this sustained interest to the school's performance.
"Homes within its catchment can generate up to 25 percent more buyer interest."
The school currently serves over 3800 students. Nearly 90 percent of eligible students residing in the catchment attend the school. In 2025, the school's cohort exceeded its maximum capacity by 17 percent, highlighting the high demand.
Low Property Turnover in Catchment Areas
Boman also highlighted the low property turnover in key catchment suburbs such as Wishart and Mansfield. He noted that residents often stay for extended periods, a trend particularly common among families with children.
Other Top Schools and Market Impact
Beyond Mansfield, Kelvin Grove State College and Brisbane State High School ranked second and third, respectively, in terms of search interest in 2025.
Domain's chief of research and economics, Nicola Powell, indicated that popular state schools frequently contribute to a 'price premium' in their respective areas. For selective-entry schools like the Queensland Academy of Science, Mathematics, and Technology, location remains a significant factor for buyers prioritizing commute convenience, even though entry is not catchment-based.
