Netgear Launches Nighthawk 5G M7 Wi-Fi 7 Hotspot in Australia

Netgear has officially released the Nighthawk 5G M7 hotspot in Australia, with a price tag of $799. This latest device is positioned as a Wi-Fi 7-compatible alternative to the M7 Ultra model, which was previously launched in late 2024.

A new accompanying app features an “eSIM Marketplace,” which allows users to browse and select data plans from over 140 countries.

Key Differentiators and Pricing

The M7 hotspot offers significant flexibility for travelers, supporting both physical SIMs and eSIMs for network selection. A key distinction is that the M7 is sold unlocked, setting it apart from the $949 M7 Ultra, which is exclusively sold through Telstra.

eSIM Marketplace Revolutionizes Travel Connectivity

A standout feature of the Nighthawk 5G M7 is its new accompanying app, which includes an “eSIM Marketplace.” This innovative platform enables users to easily browse and select data plans from over 140 countries. Designed to simplify data management and plan comparisons, the marketplace provides a convenient alternative to purchasing local SIM cards or relying on expensive international roaming services while traveling.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The M7 model utilizes sub-6GHz 5G technology. This differs from the M7 Ultra, which supports the faster 5G mmWave technology. However, the current limited widespread availability of 5G mmWave in Australia lessens the practical impact of this difference in the local market. The Nighthawk 5G M7 boasts support for Wi-Fi speeds of up to 3.6Gbps and can connect up to 32 devices simultaneously. Actual speeds, however, will ultimately depend on the telco’s chosen SIM plan.
