Google Calendar Unveils New Gemini-Powered Meeting Scheduling Feature
Google Calendar is introducing a new Gemini-powered feature designed to optimize meeting scheduling, enhancing the process for organizers and attendees alike.
Enhanced Meeting Scheduling with Gemini
The new feature offers two core functionalities to streamline meeting organization.
When creating a meeting, users will find a "Suggested times" option. Gemini, Google's advanced AI, steps in to analyze attendees' marked calendar availability and potential conflicts. It then presents a selection of recommended time slots, aiming to find the best fit for everyone.
If an initial meeting time receives multiple declines, the feature intelligently facilitates rescheduling. The event interface will display an updated time when all attendees are available, enabling organizers to quickly modify the invite with minimal effort.
Availability and Access Requirements
To utilize this new scheduling tool, meeting organizers must have access to attendees' calendars.
The feature is exclusively available to paid subscribers of specific Google Workspace plans:
- Google Workspace Business (Standard and Plus)
- Google Workspace Enterprise (Standard and Plus)
Additionally, users who have the Google AI Pro for Education add-on will also have access.
Rollout Schedule
The Gemini-powered scheduling feature is currently live on Rapid Release domains. A broader rollout to Scheduled Release domains is scheduled to commence on February 2.
