Ludo Lacroix Transitions from PremiAir Racing, Joins as Consultant

Ludo Lacroix has transitioned from his role as PremiAir Racing's competition director at the end of 2025, after two years with the team.

Lacroix cited feeling "less relevant" under the current Gen3 rules as a reason for his departure.

His exit coincided with the appointment of Triple Eight founder Roland Dane as team principal. Despite a past conflict when Lacroix moved from Triple Eight to DJR Team Penske in 2016, Dane has now hired Lacroix for a part-time consultancy role.

This new position will involve Lacroix assisting at the team's base, without being part of the traveling crew. He will also work on other projects, including with the Anderson Motorsport Super2 team. The competition director role previously held by Lacroix will not be directly replaced.

Gen3 Rules Reshape Engineering Skillsets

Dane acknowledged that Gen3 rules have altered the required skillsets for engineers in Supercars. Lacroix's strength previously lay in developing innovative technical solutions within a more open rulebook, a skillset less applicable to the current standardized Gen3 regulations. Dane drew parallels to the shift in engineering demands seen in NASCAR following its transition to a spec car.

Commute Contributes to Decision

Lacroix also mentioned the long commute from his Brisbane residence to PremiAir's Gold Coast workshop as a factor in his decision to step back. Dane is currently exploring options to relocate the team's facility to a new site within the same general area.

PremiAir Racing: Season Outlook

PremiAir Racing, one of three Chevrolet teams, is expected to form an information-sharing alliance this year. The team, owned by Peter Xiberras, was formerly a data client of Triple Eight, which has since aligned with Ford. PremiAir will feature rookie Jayden Ojeda and returning driver Declan Fraser in its two Camaros for the upcoming season.
