Home Invasion and Assault Rocks Clyde North Residence

A couple in Melbourne's south-east was subjected to a terrifying home invasion and assault on January 23. Police believe two men targeted an estate in Clyde North, parking a maroon four-door sedan in Aintree Close around 2:20 AM before striking.

The suspects reportedly gained entry to the partially open garage of Rod and Annie Maureen's residence on Yellowstone Avenue.

"They confronted Rod, 58, threatening him with a firearm and demanding car keys. After Rod refused, he was assaulted and lost consciousness."

Ordeal for Annie-Maureen and Failed Theft Attempt

The offenders then proceeded to a bedroom where Annie-Maureen, 59, was asleep. They held her at gunpoint, demanding keys to her Lexus vehicle. A spare key was subsequently located downstairs near the front door.

The individuals stole Rod's wallet and a garage fob but were ultimately unable to steal the car, as it was fitted with a club lock. The suspects were last observed fleeing the scene in their maroon sedan, traveling towards Patterson Road.

Rod received hospital treatment for minor injuries, while Annie-Maureen did not sustain physical injuries during the incident.

Police Seek Public Assistance

Detective Senior Constable Candice Taylor indicated that the incident is considered opportunistic and may be connected to two other aggravated burglaries and motor vehicle thefts in recent weeks.

Investigators have released digital composite images of two individuals they believe can assist with the investigation:
