American Lawyer Dies Mid-Flight: Inquest Reveals Undiagnosed Heart Condition and Medication Mix
Rachel Green, a 44-year-old American lawyer, died mid-flight from Minneapolis to London on April 30, 2025, after becoming unresponsive. Ms. Green was traveling to conduct historical research for a fictional book. Cabin crew attempted resuscitation, but it was unsuccessful.
Coronial Inquest Findings
A coronial inquest at West London Coroner’s Court found that Ms. Green had multiple prescription medications in her system. These included anti-depressants, melatonin, and cannabinoids.
She also had an undiagnosed cardiac condition, specifically a coronary artery covered by myocardial tunneling.
The inquest concluded that the combination of these factors likely led to her death, though she was not taking the medications in excess.
Pathologist's Statement
Pathologist Dr. Alan Bates stated that, aside from the coronary artery finding, Ms. Green's heart appeared normal. He described her death as seeming instantaneous.
Family Questions Medical Care
Ms. Green's sister, Roxanne Carney, questioned why her sister was not referred to a cardiologist. This concern arose despite Ms. Green reportedly having an abnormal heart test before being prescribed the combination of medications found in her system.
Prior Illness and Relocation
In the years prior to her death, Ms. Green had been recovering from an unexpected illness. This illness had required her to relocate to Minnesota.
