An incident at a girls' secondary school in north-western Nigeria resulted in the death of one teacher and the abduction of at least 25 students, according to police reports.
The event occurred at the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, approximately at 04:00 local time (0300 GMT) on Monday.
During the incident, armed individuals engaged police personnel in a confrontation. They subsequently gained entry by scaling the perimeter fence and took students from their hostel.
One staff member was killed during the event. Another staff member sustained gunshot wounds and is currently receiving medical attention.
Schools in northern Nigeria have been identified as frequent targets for armed groups.
