Wolahan Calls for Careful Liberal Direction, Resisting One Nation Shift
Former Liberal Member of Parliament Keith Wolahan, who lost his metropolitan seat in the last election, has called for careful consideration regarding the Liberal party's direction. Wolahan stated that the party should resist a shift towards One Nation.
Wolahan previously represented the suburban Melbourne seat of Menzies. He was among several inner-city Liberals who lost their positions in the most recent election.
Speaking to Sky News, Wolahan asserted that One Nation is not currently, and will not be, positioned to win seats from Labor. He indicated that these electorates are where the Liberal party should focus its efforts.
"One Nation is not currently, and will not be, positioned to win seats from Labor."
Wolahan expressed his belief that the Liberal party is uniquely capable of maintaining a centre-right stance within urban areas. He stressed the importance of carefully evaluating the Coalition's strategy in this context, rather than making hasty decisions.
