Russell Paces Barcelona Pre-Season Testing

George Russell recorded the fastest time during this week's pre-season testing in Barcelona.

Russell achieved a lap time of 1:16.445s in the afternoon session, marking the first time a driver dipped into the 1:16s range.

He completed 77 laps for Mercedes.

Mercedes' Strong Showing

Earlier in the day, his team-mate Kimi Antonelli set the morning's benchmark with a lap of 1:17.081s, completing 90 laps. Mercedes accumulated a total of 499 laps over their three days on track.

Other Teams' Performance Notes

Oscar Piastri of McLaren posted the fourth quickest time. Piastri's afternoon running was limited due to a fuel system issue.

Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton combined for 174 laps, both recording times in the 1:18s. Aston Martin's Lance Stroll completed four laps.
