Newly released emails from 2013 detail interactions between convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch, primarily concerning Epstein connecting Tisch with women. These communications, part of over 3 million Epstein-related documents released by the Department of Justice last month, have led to a review by the NFL and have been highlighted in a House Judiciary Committee hearing.
Email Contents and Context
The emails between Tisch and Epstein, predominantly from 2013, involved Epstein providing Tisch with "scouting reports" on various women. Their exchanges included discussions about whether women were "pro or civilian" or a "working girl."
In May 2013, Epstein offered to invite a "Russian" woman, to which Tisch responded, "Is she fun?" The following month, after Epstein described a "Tahitian" woman as "exotic," Tisch inquired, "Working girl?" Epstein replied, "Never."
Another exchange saw Epstein describe a woman as "a character, short term, has an older boyfriend going to acting school, a 10 ass." Tisch later asked about a different woman, "pro or civilian?" Epstein clarified, "civilian, but Russian, and rarely tells the full truth, but fun."
Following an interaction, Epstein sent a report to Tisch stating, "report just in, you did very very well, she wants to go to the play, she is a little freaked by the age difference but go slow … i will try to convince her not to return to Ukraine. having her crying worked." Tisch responded, "Nice report … Funny comment on crying!!!"
In one notable exchange, Epstein requested to switch to a phone call, stating, "I don't like records of these conversations."
Epstein also extended an invitation to Tisch to visit his private island, while Tisch offered Epstein tickets to New York Giants games. The emails do not clarify whether these invitations were accepted. The last email exchange in the released documents between Tisch and Epstein occurred in August 2017.
Background of the Relationship
Steve Tisch, 76, a prominent film producer and co-owner of the New York Giants since 2005, was reportedly introduced to Jeffrey Epstein by mutual acquaintance Todd Meister. In April 2013, Tisch accepted an invitation for breakfast with Epstein. Meister later informed Epstein that Tisch was impressed by him.
At the time of this meeting, Epstein had already served prison time, was registered as a Level 3 sex offender, and had been publicly referred to as a "billionaire pervert" and "child-sex creep." Within three weeks of their breakfast, Tisch and Epstein began discussing women in their emails.
Interactions with Specific Women
The emails indicate Epstein introduced Tisch to at least four women. Some emails between Epstein and women referenced meetings with Tisch, with some indicating discussions about potential assistance with acting careers.
Russian ModelIn late 2011, a Russian model emailed Epstein, feeling he had not fulfilled a promise to introduce her to influential people. In April 2013, Epstein provided her email address to Tisch. Following their meeting, the model reportedly told Epstein that Tisch was a "really great man." Epstein also reportedly asked this model to "find me a girl."
Tahitian WomanA Tahitian woman, who had connected with Epstein around 2010 seeking career assistance, spent a month at his New York apartment in 2013. Epstein introduced her to Tisch, and Tisch later reported back that she was "adorable." Days later, Epstein asked the woman about her interactions with Tisch. She mentioned having drinks, discussing his role on "Shark Tank," and an invitation to a football game.
The name in that email exchange matches a woman who told Radio France One in an interview that Epstein controlled her life. She stated that Epstein introduced her to an "American producer" in 2013. She recounted an evening at the producer's New York residence, where he allegedly made an unwanted advance. She stated she rejected him and left, and the next day, Epstein reportedly called her an "idiot." Public records indicate Tisch was renting a penthouse in the Trump Park Avenue building in 2013.
Aspiring ActorAnother model and aspiring actor, whom Epstein wanted to find "friends in Kiev," sought his help with career and housing. Epstein introduced her to Tisch. She later informed Epstein that "Steve" had "been so weird" and wanted more than a friendship, which she did not desire. She expressed concerns that he would not assist her career goals and would exploit her youth. Epstein's matchmaking for Tisch reportedly concluded after this interaction.
One attorney representing a woman involved stated that her client "endured substantial abuse at the hands of Epstein."
Official Responses and Congressional Scrutiny
The email exchanges were highlighted during a House Judiciary Committee hearing. Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., questioned Attorney General Pam Bondi if the emails constituted credible evidence warranting further investigation into Tisch's involvement in Epstein's alleged criminal conduct. Bondi stated that the Department of Justice would investigate any case involving a victim, but she was not specifically familiar with that email.
Following earlier reports, the New York Giants released a statement from Tisch. He characterized his association with Epstein as "brief," emphasized that the women discussed were adults, and expressed regret for associating with Epstein. A Giants spokesperson declined further comment, and an NFL spokesperson referenced Commissioner Roger Goodell's remarks about reviewing the emails' context. Tisch did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the emails when they were first reported.
Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
