Cambodia Sees 30% Drop in HIV/AIDS Deaths, Targets 2030 Elimination
Cambodia reported 697 deaths from HIV/AIDS in 2025, marking a significant 30 percent decrease compared to 2024.
The Ministry of Health's annual report specified that these deaths included 688 adults and nine children.
Current Status of Infections and Treatment
The country recorded approximately 1,200 new HIV infections in 2025, with an infection rate of 0.07 per 1,000 people.
Currently, about 76,000 people in Cambodia are living with HIV/AIDS. Of these individuals, 71,697 are receiving antiretroviral treatment.
Ambitious Goals and Ongoing Challenges
Cambodia has committed to eliminating AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
On World AIDS Day 2025, Prime Minister Hun Manet noted that more than 4,000 people remained unaware of their HIV status and were not yet receiving necessary medication.
The kingdom aims to reduce new HIV infections to over 200 cases and fatalities to under 200 cases annually.
