Tokito Oda Makes History with Australian Open 2026 Wheelchair Title
Tokito Oda has clinched the Australian Open 2026 men's wheelchair title, triumphing over Martin De la Puente in a three-set battle with a final score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
This victory established him as the youngest man to simultaneously hold all four Grand Slam titles across any professional tennis format.
A New Era of Dominance
At just 19 years old, Oda's win at Melbourne Park further solidifies his place in tennis history. He is now only the second man ever to achieve four consecutive men's wheelchair singles majors. This remarkable accomplishment places him alongside the legendary Shingo Kunieda, who previously achieved this feat by winning an astonishing 12 consecutive majors starting in 2007.
Expanding the Major Tally
This latest championship marks Oda's second Australian Open victory and his eighth major title overall. With this achievement, he is now just two titles shy of matching Alfie Hewett's record.
Currently ranked world No.1, Oda's exceptional performance trajectory suggests he is rapidly approaching Kunieda's formidable record of 28 men's wheelchair singles Grand Slam titles.
