Trump Seeks Iran Deal, Responds to Khamenei's Warning of Regional War
US President Donald Trump has expressed his hope for reaching an agreement with Iran.
This statement from Trump came in the wake of a stern warning from Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Khamenei cautioned that any US attack on the Islamic Republic would trigger a regional war.
When directly questioned about Khamenei's warning, President Trump dismissed it, stating:
"Of course he is going to say that."
Trump elaborated on his stance regarding future negotiations:
"Hopefully we'll make a deal. If we don't make a deal, then we'll find out whether or not he was right."
The current situation follows previous tensions, including a period in June of the previous year when the United States conducted limited strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. These strikes occurred during a 12-day conflict that also involved Israel and Iran.
