A 25-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a three-week-old baby boy in July 2024. The infant passed away in a Queensland hospital just four days after being admitted in critical condition. An investigation, dubbed Operation Whiskey Nell, was launched by authorities, with medical examinations later revealing the child sustained internal injuries.
Incident Background
The three-week-old baby boy was admitted to Queensland Children's Hospital on July 18, 2024. He was in critical condition upon arrival, though no obvious external injuries were noted at the time.
Sadly, four days later, on July 22, 2024, the infant passed away while still in hospital care.
Investigation Details
Following the infant's death, detectives from the Logan Child Protection Investigation Unit and the Child Trauma Unit launched Operation Whiskey Nell. The primary goal of this investigation was to determine the cause of the baby's death.
Detectives recently received medical examination results, which indicated that the child had sustained internal injuries.
Police allege these injuries were sustained at a residence on Rosemary Street in Greenbank.
