Kendrick Lamar Makes Grammy History with 26 Awards

Kendrick Lamar has become the most-awarded hip-hop artist in Grammy history, reaching a total of 26 awards. He surpassed Jay-Z, who holds 25 Grammys, and Kanye West, who has 24.

Recent Grammy Triumphs

At the recent Grammy Awards, Lamar received four trophies. These included Best Rap Album for “GNX,” Best Rap Song for “TV Off,” Melodic Rap Performance for “Luther,” and Rap Performance for his feature on Clipse’s “Chains & Whips.”

Acknowledging Hip-Hop Culture

During his acceptance speech for Best Rap Album, Lamar offered a reflection on the genre and his journey:

“It is hip-hop as usual, man. I’m not good at talking about myself, but I express it through the music. It’s an honor to be here. … Hip-hop is going to always be right here. We are going to be in these suits looking good, having our folks with us. We are going to be having the culture with us. So I appreciate y’all. God is to glory. Love y’all.”

Lamar entered the 68th annual Grammy Awards with 22 wins and 57 nominations. He received nine nominations this year, including for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year, and secured three awards prior to the live telecast.
