Rare Goalie Fight Erupts at Stadium Series Game
A Stadium Series game in Florida between the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning featured a rare goalie fight.
The incident began in the second period with the Lightning trailing 5-2 while on a power play. After Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman made a save on a tip-in attempt by Tampa Bay forward Brandon Hagel, Hagel continued to hack at the puck. Swayman then engaged Hagel, leading to a confrontation.
Following this initial exchange, other players became involved in altercations across the ice.
Subsequently, Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy skated towards center ice to challenge Swayman. Swayman accepted, and both goalies engaged in their first career fight.
This marks the second goalie fight in the past three weeks. On January 19, Florida Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky and San Jose Sharks goalie Alex Nedeljkovic were involved in a scrum.
The Lightning initiated a comeback following the incident, reducing the deficit to one goal by the end of the period.
