A search for a man who went missing while swimming at Maroubra Beach in Sydney's east has concluded with the discovery of a body.
Timeline of Events
- Sunday, 4:00 PM: Emergency services were alerted to a 30-year-old man who had not returned to shore after entering the water at the southern end of Maroubra Beach with friends.
- Sunday afternoon/evening: A search operation was launched involving police, the Marine Area Command, the LifeSaver21 helicopter, Surf Life Saving, and Marine Rescue NSW. The initial search was unsuccessful.
- Monday, 8:00 AM: The search effort resumed.
- Monday, 12:20 PM: A man's body was discovered by search teams.
Identification
Formal identification is pending. Authorities have stated they believe the body is that of the 30-year-old missing swimmer.
