Missing Swimmer Found Deceased at Maroubra Beach
A 30-year-old man who went missing while swimming at Maroubra Beach on Sunday afternoon has been found deceased. His body was located on Monday afternoon following an extensive search operation by multiple emergency services.
Incident and Initial Search
On Sunday, the 30-year-old man entered the water at the southern end of Maroubra Beach with friends at approximately 4 p.m. He subsequently did not return to shore, raising immediate concerns.
Emergency services were alerted to the missing swimmer, prompting the initiation of a search operation.
Agencies involved in the initial search included police, the Marine Area Command, the LifeSaver21 helicopter, Surf Life Saving, and Marine Rescue NSW. Despite the comprehensive efforts, the search conducted on Sunday was unsuccessful.
Search Resumes and Discovery
The search for the missing swimmer resumed on Monday morning, commencing at approximately 8 a.m.
At approximately 12:20 p.m. on Monday, a man's body was discovered. Authorities believe the body is that of the missing 30-year-old swimmer, though formal identification is pending.
