Perth Man Martin Thomas Glynn Faces New Firearms Charges, Bail Application Forthcoming
A Perth man, Martin Thomas Glynn, 39, has appeared in court to face new firearms charges, with his lawyer indicating an upcoming bail application.
Operation Dalewood Arrest
Glynn was arrested at his Yangebup home in December as part of Operation Dalewood, an initiative launched in response to the Bondi attack on December 14.
During the arrest, Western Australia Police allegedly discovered six rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and flags associated with Hezbollah and Hamas.
Following the Bondi attack, Glynn had reportedly posted on Instagram expressing support for the individuals involved. An earlier court hearing last month was informed of a post stating:
"I just want to say that I, Martin Glynn, 100 per cent support the New South Wales shooters," referring to an event where 15 people were killed at a Hannukah event.
Initial Charges and Allegations
Glynn was initially charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, failing to store a firearm in compliant storage, and conduct intended to racially harass.
During the raid, police allegedly found handwritten notebooks titled "ideology, views, ideas and insights," which reportedly contained antisemitic comments and references to Hitler and the Holocaust. Images of smoke grenade bombs and information on making explosives were also reportedly found on his mobile phone.
New Charges and Bail Application
Glynn now faces charges of possessing firearm technology and a second count of failing to store a firearm in compliant storage. He appeared in Fremantle Magistrates Court via video link from Hakea Prison.
During a previous hearing, Glynn commented on his social media posts, stating he had been:
"very opinionated" and aimed to "raise the hypocrisy" by drawing a parallel between the Bondi attack death toll and Palestinian deaths in the Gaza-Israel conflict.
His Legal Aid lawyer stated that a bail application would be submitted at his next court appearance on February 27.
