Petro: Colombia No Longer Primary Drug Hub, Calls for Global Focus on Kingpins
Colombian President Gustavo Petro recently declared that Colombia is no longer the primary hub for the drug trade. He urged the United States to significantly increase its efforts in targeting high-level drug trafficking figures.
"These individuals do not reside in Colombia but are located in places such as Dubai, Madrid, and Miami."
Petro emphasized that these influential figures operate from outside Colombia. He recounted that he had previously provided names of these individuals to former US President Donald Trump during a prior meeting.
The Colombian leader highlighted that the financial assets belonging to these organizations are also based outside Colombia. He called for a joint pursuit through coordinated international intelligence work to effectively address this global challenge.
