F1 Film Sequel Explored as Apple TV+ Expands Formula 1 Content
A potential sequel to the film "F1" was recently discussed by Apple’s SVP of Services, Eddie Cue, and Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali at a recent press event.
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali indicated that a decision on a new film is pending, stating, "Stay tuned," and adding that the success of the first movie needs to be evaluated for future projects.
Record-Breaking Success of the "F1" Film
The original "F1" film achieved significant box office success, grossing over $631 million globally. It holds notable records as the highest-grossing sports movie of all time, Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing film, and Apple Original Films' top theatrical release to date.
New F1 Streaming Collaboration with Apple TV+
During the same event, Cue and Domenicali also announced a new collaboration for streaming Formula 1 content. Apple TV subscribers will gain access to F1 broadcasts at no additional cost.
The service is designed to consolidate F1 viewing on Apple devices, including iPhones and Apple TVs. It will offer qualifying races, sprint races, and post-race content in 4K resolution with Dolby sound.
Cue highlighted Apple's intention to integrate its broader ecosystem, including Apple Maps and Apple Music, into the Formula 1 fan experience. Domenicali further emphasized the importance of relevancy and utilizing the right platform for the sport's continued success.
