This ambitious target requires a halving of child mortality rates by that year.
Achieving this will involve continued investment in vaccines, maternal and child health programs, and nutrition. The foundation considers vaccines a highly effective investment in global health and remains committed to funding their research, scaling, and delivery.
2. Advancing Nutrition
Ongoing investments in nutrition research are critical, especially given that malnutrition is an underlying cause of half of all child deaths globally. Improved nutrition is regarded as crucial for both saving lives and supporting healthy brain development.
3. Boosting Women's Health R&D
The foundation previously committed $2.5 billion to accelerate research and development (R&D) in five chronically underfunded areas of women's health, reinforcing its dedication to addressing disparities in healthcare.
