Man Charged After Fireworks Allegedly Launched at Police in Malabar
A man has been charged after fireworks were allegedly launched at police in Malabar, Sydney. The incident occurred overnight.
At approximately 10:20 PM, police officers on Bilga Crescent, Malabar, observed a man discharging fireworks into the air.
As the officers approached, the man allegedly aimed and launched the fireworks toward the police vehicle.
The two officers and a passenger in the police car were uninjured, and the vehicle was not damaged. Following a short foot pursuit, police apprehended a 46-year-old man.
A slingshot and a jet lighter were reportedly found on the man. He was charged with having a prohibited weapon, handling explosives, and assaulting police. The man was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.
