Explosion Reported at Kuwait Secondary School in Northern Gaza
A video depicting an explosion at the Kuwait Secondary School for Girls in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, has been reviewed.
Evidence indicates the footage shows what appears to be an explosive demolition at the school.
The earliest version of the video was identified on February 5. Satellite imagery from early February showed existing damage to parts of the school, but one section remained intact, suggesting the event in the video occurred recently.
Investigation Details and Location Context
The school is situated approximately 240 meters east of the "yellow line," a designated area for Israeli troop withdrawal as part of the current US-brokered ceasefire agreement. No public statements or social media posts from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have mentioned targeting this specific school.
Broader Impact on Education in Gaza
According to UNICEF, the United Nations children’s charity, more than 90% of schools in Gaza have sustained damage or been destroyed since the conflict began. UNICEF also reported that around 60% of school-aged children currently do not have access to in-person education.
