Australian Skier Daisy Thomas Injured in Livigno Training Crash
Australian skier Daisy Thomas, 18, was stretchered off the slopes following a crash during a slopestyle training session in Livigno. This incident occurred six weeks after she sustained an ACL tear, an injury that had threatened her participation in the Milano Cortina 2026 Games.
Incident Details
During a Friday training session, Thomas reportedly misjudged a landing after performing tricks off the final jump of the course. Her coach and other staff provided immediate assistance, and she was subsequently transported off the slopes by stretcher.
Following scans, Thomas announced via Instagram her withdrawal from the slopestyle competition. She expressed a desire to still compete in the big air event, scheduled to begin in just over a week. The recent injury affected the same knee previously impacted by her ACL tear.
Competing Without an ACL
Thomas had been training without an ACL after tearing it approximately six weeks prior.
She had previously competed in the Laax Open in Switzerland in January, 47 days post-injury. Prior to the crash, Thomas stated she had no concerns about her knee, feeling strong and capable of performing her tricks, and reiterated her goal of winning an Olympic medal. She is among several athletes, including Lindsey Vonn, who have attempted to compete without an ACL.
