Women's Parallel Giant Slalom: Upsets and Triumphs
The event saw an unexpected turn for defending champion Ester Ledecka, also from the Czech Republic. Ledecka, who had maintained an undefeated streak in parallel giant slalom races for nearly two years, was eliminated in the quarterfinals. She made a crucial mistake at the sixth gate, leading to a narrow loss by just 0.06 seconds against Sabine Payer of Austria.
Ledecka acknowledged that she could have improved her form. Her coach, Justin Reiter, suggested that her preparation and training focus might have been contributing factors to her performance.
Ester Ledecka, the defending champion and undefeated for nearly two years, was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Sabine Payer continued her strong performance, ultimately securing the silver medal. She was defeated by Maderova in the final by a margin of 0.83 seconds.
The bronze medal in the women's event went to Italy's Lucia Dalmasso. She won an all-Italian race for third place, clinching the medal by a mere 0.11 seconds.
