Kroger Reportedly Taps Greg Foran as New CEO
Kroger is reportedly planning to appoint Greg Foran as its chief executive officer, according to a Wall Street Journal report published on Sunday.
The report cited sources familiar with the matter. Kroger is expected to announce its new CEO as soon as Monday.
The Search for a Permanent Leader
The U.S. grocer has been searching for a permanent leader since the ousting of former CEO Rodney McMullen last year. McMullen's removal followed a board investigation that found his personal conduct to be "inconsistent" with company policies. Lead director Ronald Sargent was appointed interim CEO during the search.
Greg Foran's Extensive Background
Foran previously served as the CEO of Air New Zealand from February 2020 to October 2025. During his time there, he addressed various challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic's impact, persistent engine component shortages, and the grounding of up to 11 aircraft.
Before his tenure at Air New Zealand, Foran held the position of president and CEO of Walmart's U.S. operations. He is recognized for significantly improving the business unit.
Under Foran's leadership, Walmart's U.S. operations recorded 20 consecutive quarters of comparable sales growth.
Reuters indicated it could not immediately verify the report, and Kroger did not provide an immediate response to a request for comment.
