Police Report Speeding Near Party in the Paddock Festival, Plan Major Post-Event RBT
Police have reported four drivers exceeding speed limits near the Party in the Paddock festival site in Carrick, as the four-day event neared its conclusion. While speeders were detected, no drink or drug drivers were found during the ongoing operations.
Police conducted both mobile and static operations in and around the Quercus Park site throughout the festival to ensure public safety and compliance with road rules.
Speeding Incidents Detected
During their patrols, officers recorded four drivers traveling at least 15 km/h over the reduced speed limit. One driver was specifically clocked at 26 km/h over the limit during heavy rain, highlighting dangerous driving conditions.
Police emphasized that drivers should always obey posted speed limits and drive to the conditions. They affirmed their continued presence on the roads to ensure compliance and safety for all motorists.
Post-Festival Enforcement
As the festival concluded, police prepared for a large-scale random breath testing (RBT) operation targeting motorists departing the site. This proactive measure aims to deter and detect impaired driving after the event.
Last year's post-festival operation yielded significant results, with four drink drivers apprehended and 15 positive drug tests recorded from 19 conducted samples.
For the 2025 event, police breath tested a substantial number of departing motorists, with a total of 3,087 drivers checked as they left the festival grounds.
The Party in the Paddock festival is a significant annual event, drawing thousands of music fans to northern Tasmania.
