Nigerian Jihadists Obtain Drones Despite Import Controls
Jihadist groups in Nigeria have acquired commercial and hobby drones, according to Malik Samuel, a senior researcher at the Good Governance Africa think-tank. This occurred despite the Nigerian government's tight control over drone imports and a prohibition on their use without official permission.
The drones were reportedly obtained via smuggling networks operating across the region's porous borders.
