Paul Brothers Disagree Over Super Bowl Halftime Show
Logan Paul publicly opposed his brother, Jake Paul, regarding Jake's encouragement to protest the Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Bad Bunny.
Jake Paul's Call for Protest and Clarifications
Jake Paul, an influencer and professional boxer, advised his followers on X to turn off the Halftime Show. He stated this action would "show big corporations they can't just do whatever they want without consequences."
Jake Paul also referred to the performer as a "fake American citizen" who "publicly hates America."
Amid backlash, Jake Paul clarified on X that his "fake citizen" comment was not related to Bad Bunny's Puerto Rican heritage.
He specified that he meant someone who benefits from a country and its platform but publicly disrespects it, particularly referencing criticism of ICE. Jake Paul also posted, "Guys i love bad bunny idk what happened on my twitter last night ?? wtf."
Logan Paul's Stance
Logan Paul, a social media influencer and WWE star, stated his disagreement with his brother's position. He wrote, "Puerto Ricans are Americans & I'm happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island."
Bad Bunny's Past Statements and Performance Context
Bad Bunny previously criticized ICE during a Grammy acceptance speech, declaring:
"ICE out! We're not savage, we're not animals, we're not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans… The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love."
He also cited fear of ICE raids as a reason for not touring in the United States.
Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show marked his only U.S. concert appearance scheduled for the year.
External Response
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez commented on Jake Paul's original post on X, questioning his labeling of someone as a "fake American citizen" given his move to Puerto Rico.
She contrasted this with Bad Bunny's reported funding of arts and sports programs for low-income children.
