Actor Blake Garrett, Known for "How to Eat Fried Worms," Dies at 33

Blake Garrett, an actor known for his role in "How to Eat Fried Worms," died on Sunday at age 33. His mother, Carol Garrett, confirmed the passing.

The family is awaiting autopsy results from the medical examiner to determine the official cause of death.

Carol Garrett stated that Blake went to the emergency room in Oklahoma the previous week due to intense pain and was diagnosed with shingles. She expressed a belief that his death could have been a tragic accident, possibly related to self-medication to manage the pain from the viral infection.

Garrett's mother also noted that he had been living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the past three years, where he had achieved sobriety.

Early Acting Career and Notable Roles

Born in Austin, Texas, Blake Garrett began his acting career early. He held lead roles in local productions such as "Aladdin and His Magical Lamp" and "Peanuts: A Charlie Brown Tribute." At age 10, he participated in the "Barney’s Colorful World International Tour."

His most prominent role was as Plug in the 2006 film "How to Eat Fried Worms," for which he received a Young Artist Award as part of the Best Young Ensemble Cast.
