Rugby League Entities Acknowledge Traditional Custodians
The National Rugby League (NRL) and the Canberra Raiders have both issued statements acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land.
These statements formally recognize the Elders, stories, traditions, and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands where their respective activities take place.
National Rugby League's Acknowledgement
The National Rugby League (NRL) has formally acknowledged and expressed respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land. The league's statement included an expression of honor and respect for Elders, encompassing past, present, and future generations. Furthermore, the NRL recognized the stories, traditions, and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the lands where its events and activities are conducted.
Canberra Raiders' Acknowledgement
In a separate action, the Canberra Raiders rugby league club issued its own statement acknowledging and respecting the Traditional Custodians of the land. The club extended its respects to Elders, both past, present, and future. The Canberra Raiders' statement also recognized the stories, traditions, and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands where the team meets, gathers, and plays.
